Terms of Service
Last updated 21 October 2026
By using ECHO you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. How your data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
A research prototype, not a medical service
- ECHO is an academic research prototype. It gives screening support only. It does not diagnose hypertension or any other condition and is not a substitute for a health professional.
- It is not a registered medical device. Its scores are uncalibrated and its performance comes from research datasets, not from clinical use.
- Do not make treatment decisions from its results. Confirm blood pressure with a standard measurement and discuss any concern with a health professional. In an emergency, seek medical care immediately.
Acceptable use
- Upload only photos you have the right to use: your own, or another person's with their consent.
- Do not include names, ID numbers or other identifying details in photos or file names.
- Use ECHO for personal, educational or research purposes.
- Do not send automated, bulk or scripted requests, and do not try to overload, disrupt, probe or get around the service's protections.
Availability and limits
ECHO is provided for demonstration and evaluation. It may be slow, unavailable or changed at any time. To keep it available to everyone, the number of analyses from one connection is limited, and automated requests may be blocked.
No warranty
ECHO is provided as is, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, the research team is not liable for any decision made or loss suffered from using it.
Third-party components
ECHO uses published open-source models for image preprocessing under their own licences, and the 2019 World Health Organization cardiovascular disease risk model for the optional risk chart. Their authors are credited in the research paper.
